SPX FLOW’s MMR program helping with preventative approach to mixer maintenance

SPX FLOW says it is helping companies across six countries assess the health of mixers through its Mixer Modernization and Reliability (MMR) program.

To date, the process has assessed the health of more than 6,700 mixers.

The MMR provides a unique report on each mixer, allowing companies to take a proactive, preventative approach to mixer maintenance, the company says,

The report collects more than 30 data points on each mixer and is designed to identify at-risk equipment, obsolete equipment and installation issues, along with a review of the customer’s current inventory of spares. From there, the SPX FLOW team can work with the customer to build a modernisation plan for their mixers to help increase uptime, decrease unplanned downtime and increase the mean time between failures, it says.

An unplanned downtime event can be three to seven times more costly than planned downtime, according to SPX FLOW.

The MMR report allows the SPX FLOW team to proactively plan with the customer to increase the uptime of their mixing equipment by identifying problems before they happen.

The service team then creates a customer-centric report with plans to address current maintenance and reliability problems and a roadmap for modernisation for their information. This knowledge also allows companies to identify critical spare parts so they can be purchased before they are required, avoiding downtime and expedited delivery costs.

“In a world with so many unpredictable possibilities – from pandemics to emergencies – being able to plan whenever and wherever possible makes a difference,” SPX FLOW’s Vice President of Global Aftermarket for Mixing Solutions, Mark Cardano, said. “SPX FLOW prides itself on helping customers through the lifecycle of their equipment, and the MMR is one of the best ways to help in aftermarket support.

“The MMR program’s benefits are two-fold: providing companies a thorough and insightful check-up on mixers and access to our knowledgeable, experienced experts at the same time.”

SPX Flow’s Bolting Systems boosts hydraulic torque wrench performance with TWHC 11

SPX FLOW has released the latest tool from Bolting Systems’ High Cycle Hydraulic Torque Wrench (TWHC) series, which is suitable for use in a number of industries including mining.

Internal testing shows that the TWHC 11 can offer superior performance with even more durable material that doubles to triples the wrench’s cycle life, according to the company.

“Bolting Systems has been providing premium high cycle wrenches for decades,” David Campbell, Global Product Director for Bolting Systems, said. “Our team knows our customers and their needs. The TWHC series is a perfect mix of power, performance and longevity, resulting in less downtime and more results.”

High Cycle Hydraulic Torque Wrenches play a critical role when large industrial fasteners are needed. These high-strength hydraulic tools are for heavy-duty users, like those in the oil and gas, industrial, wind energy and mining sectors. Made from corrosion-resistant material, they can withstand the harshest of environments, according to the company.

the wrenches are known for their performance and, with more power per tool, their increased reliability and simple drive assembly mean less time is spent on maintenance.

Other enhanced usability features include:

  • Compact nose radius, allowing the tool to fit in tighter, hard-to-reach spaces;
  • Low-weight, high-strength design;
  • Fast operation, long stroke and optimum flow;
  • Multi-direction high flow swivel manifold; and
  • Push-button square drive reversal and reaction arm release.

Additionally, the Bolting Systems team designed High Cycle Hydraulic Torque Wrenches with safety in mind, with a fully enclosed drive mechanism, swivel manifold internal relief valve to prevent over-pressurisation and a fine-tooth pawl that prevents tool “lock-on”.

Campbell added: “This is our longest-lasting High Cycle Hydraulic Torque Wrench to date in this torque range, meaning a lower cost of ownership alongside other advanced features. As part of SPX FLOW’s suite of solutions, the Bolting Systems team is working hard to ensure that each and every customer has the right tool for their specialized job.”

SPX Flow boosts safety, reliability and efficiency of cylinders with RGL Series

SPX FLOW Inc says it has expanded its portfolio of construction cylinders to include a series of locking collar cylinders for applications requiring mechanical cribbing or supporting loads for extended periods, such as in construction, mining and heavy equipment maintenance.

The new RGL Series comes with enhanced safety and durability, along with the trust and reliability of the SPX FLOW Power Team brand, the company said.

“We pride ourselves on being a global leader in hydraulic pumps and tools and this new cylinder platform is designed to offer a safe, reliable and efficient lifting solution,” Derek Dreier, the Global Product Manager of SPX FLOW’s Hydraulic Technologies, said. “With multiple patented features, the design of the RGL Series targets the specific needs of our industrial customers.”

Available in tonnages from 50-504 t and stroke lengths of 50-300 mm, the RGL series will be assembled at SPX FLOW’s facility in Rockford, Illinois. The company says it includes features such as:

  • A positive mechanical locking collar to safely support loads for extended periods of time while releasing hydraulic pressure, exceeding ANSI B30.1 safety standards;
  • A patented swivel cap, along with an optimised piston gland design, to provide reduced side loading;
  • Cylinder components that use POWER-TECH nitrocarburisation surface treatment to give a hard, wear-resistant surface that withstands corrosion and surface stresses;
  • A robust retaining ring to withstand full-load end stop;
  • A buttress thread designed for security and quick run-down; and
  • Sealing technology to provide rod lubrication to reduce friction and wear.

“We’re focused on providing safe and reliable products for tough applications,” Dreier said. “This new RGL series is the latest example of just that.”

SPX Flow brings mixing companies, brands into one entity

SPX FLOW Inc says it has fully integrated the additions to its mixing solutions portfolio, creating a bigger, more technologically advanced offering for customers.

By combining these legacy companies and brands – Lightnin, Plenty, Stelzer, Uutechnic and Philadelphia Mixing Solutions – both new and existing customers now have access to the best solution across all brands, it said.

“Together they bring industry-leading technical know-how to deliver solutions in a wide variety of industries, including specialty chemicals, mining and minerals, food and beverage, personal care, pharmaceuticals, environmental and wastewater, green technologies end markets,” the company said.

Ankur Jain, SPX FLOW’s Director of Product Management of Mixing Solutions, said: “SPX FLOW has taken the best of already trusted brands to build something truly unique for our customers. It’s an example where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Alone these brands were already top-notch trusted brands. Together, they are now truly the best of the best.”

Some of the greatest benefits for customers the company highlighted include:

  • Easy access to the best process know-how: Combining industry-leading brands ensures a wide variety of specialised mixing expertise to solve complex problems. Globally connected teams of industry experts offer a truly unique service to customers at their doorsteps;
  • Offering a greater array of solutions: Customers no longer need to search out multiple companies to solve their mixing needs. Customers have the options to choose from different solutions to satisfy their specific needs;
