Sulzer upgrades VA vertical cantilever sump pump

Sulzer has launched an upgrade of the VA vertical cantilever sump pump, with the update focused on developing a rigid and reliable cantilever sump pump that contains the company’s most efficient hydraulics.

The VA pump range has been designed for pumping all kinds of clean and contaminated liquids and slurry.

The hydraulic coverage of the pump was extended with energy-efficient, non-clogging and wear-resistant options, and it now includes the core process and slurry pump portfolio hydraulics. With the upgrade, multiple improvements were also made to the vertical construction, Sulzer said.

The VA pump is suitable for highly demanding applications such as:

  • Industrial water;
  • Effluents;
  • Corrosive and abrasive mixtures;
  • Hazardous fluids;
  • Abrasive liquids and/or liquids containing large solids;
  • Abrasive fibrous slurries and/or fibrous slurries containing large solids;
  • Abrasive non-fibrous slurries and/or non-fibrous slurries containing large solids; and
  • Heavy slurry.

Kato Engineering hopes to generate more sales with Sulzer agreement

Kato Engineering has expanded its authorised service network through collaboration with Sulzer for aftermarket services on Kato brand generators.

The authorised service agreement between the two companies covers six service locations in the US and seven service locations in Australia. Kato has a large installed base within the oil and gas (onshore & offshore), commercial industrial (prime & standby), power generation, data center, rail, and mining industries.

Sulzer is strategically located in the US and Australia to support these markets, Kato said.

“Sulzer has strong expertise in generator repair as well as providing maintenance service to customers for turbines, compressors, pumps, motors and gearboxes. Similarly, the level of expertise offered to existing Sulzer customers will now be available to all those operating Kato generators,” it added.

Nicolas Troussard, Head of Business Development Electromechanical Services for Sulzer, said: “Kato Engineering is one of the world’s leading brands for distributed power generation in oil & gas, mining and marine. With Sulzer’s global network of service centres, this agreement ensures we can bring Kato Engineering users the highest standard of service, parts and technical support, right at their doorstep.”

The Kato range of generators is in operation extensively in many markets providing power supply.

“Kato brand product’s continued reliability is enhanced by periodic maintenance, planned repair, and our ability to react quickly to customer’s field needs. Our agreement with Sulzer will only bolster our ability to build the Kato Engineering brand worldwide,” Kato said.

Corey Hansen, Senior Manager of the Aftermarket Business for Kato Engineering and Leroy-Somer brand products, said: “This authorised service agreement with Sulzer has provided the opportunity to partner with an established company that has hands-on experience with our products. This agreement will be complementary to our aftermarket parts, remanufacture, and field service capabilities that we have internally operating out of our three North American facilities.”

The deal, for Sulzer, follows on from a recent agreement with Nidec for the sales and servicing of medium voltage variable speed drives.
