Superior looks to capture global market share with AMPCO Minerals tie-up

Superior Industries says it has signed a new partnership with AMPCO Minerals that will lead to the design and manufacture of a complete line of bulk material processing and handling equipment for customers outside of North America.

The investment into the China-based manufacturer of crushing, screening, washing and conveying equipment furthers Superior’s vision of growing a global brand, it said.

Jarrod Felton, President of Superior Industries, said: “Whether it’s application advice, service response or manufacturing efforts, our goal is to be closer to our customers. This partnership allows us to continue improving our results for them.”

Working in a new purpose-built factory in Shanghai, Superior intends to design and manufacture this line of bulk material processing and handling equipment for customers outside of North America.

“This is an investment in a team whose core members each have more than 30 years of experience developing crushing and screening technology for our markets,” Felton said. “They are accomplished professionals that people in our industry know and trust.”

Meanwhile, the Shanghai-based production facility will improve responsiveness, reliability and quality of Superior’s North American supply chain. US and Canada-based plants will have new access to a dependable, high-quality chain of supply partner for select crushing and screening components, the company said.

Superior Industries to debut portable wash plant at CONEXPO

Superior Industries, a US-based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, is to showcase a newly configured portable wash plant at the upcoming CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020 event, in Las Vegas, USA.

The portable wash plant is one of 12 new products the company will introduce during the trade show on March 10-14, 2020.

Capable of producing as many as five products, the Portable Spirit® Wash Plant carries a 6 x 20 Guardian® Horizontal Screen, plus a sand production module and ultrafines recovery module, according to the company.

As part of the operation, material is fed to a slurry box, which liquifies it to improve the screening and stratification processes, according to Superior. The three-deck horizontal screen washes and sizes three products from a top, middle or bottom deck.

Leftover sand is then processed through one of two Spirits Wash Modules. These modules consist of one or more Helix® Cyclones followed by a dewatering screen.

Superior said: “The first wash module uses a cyclone to size and separate material for a traditional sand product. A dewatering screen ensures it’s instantly saleable off the discharge chute.

“Depending on the deposit, an optional ultra fines recovery module washes out -100 to -400 fines for microfine material, which is saved from being lost to a waste pond.”

Matt Voigt, Manager of Portable Plants at Superior, said: “It’s the first time such a configuration has been created for the portable market in North America.

“We incorporated our low profile dewatering screens and a series of hydraulically-powered components to ensure the plant is road permissible and quick to deploy.”

Applications for the new portable plant include operations with settling ponds, crushed aggregate, sand and gravel, dredging and frac sand.

At CONEXPO Latin America, on October 2-5, Superior said it planned to showcase its latest construction aggregate processing and handling solutions.

With the addition of Superior’s core products, including crushing, screening, washing and conveying equipment, the manufacturer’s local entity is able to offer aggregate and mining producers processing and handling solutions from Rock Face to Load Out®, it said.
