PT Petrosea Tbk has signed a mining services contract with PT Vale Indonesia Tbk with an estimated contract value of Rp16 trillion for a duration of 10 years, which equates to about US$973 million.
As part of this agreement, Petrosea will provide mining services and transportation of nickel ore material for Bahodopi Block 2 and 3 in Central Sulawesi. This contract is part of Petrosea’s long-term strategy to boost financial and operational performance by expanding its portfolio and strengthening its position in the national mining industry.
The contract was signed April 8, 2025. The mining in Bahodopi forms part of the wider Morowali project that covers integrated low-carbon nickel mining and processing in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi.
The smelter to be built in Sambalagi will use the Rotary Kiln Electric Furnace (RKEF) technology. Supported by a source of electricity from natural gas, it will be a reliable, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly factory. The natural gas power plant will be a major contributor to reducing carbon emissions from the overall operation of this project.
