Magna Tyres to unveil two new mining patterns at Bauma 2022

Magna Tyres says it intends to unveil two new mining patterns at Bauma 2022 in Munich, Germany, in October.

The company will showcase a selection of products on its 106 sq.m booth, with the main priority being the introduction for the very first time of the all-new Magna MU30 mining pattern (pictured) for underground trucks and wheel loaders.

The Magna MU30 incorporates a number of innovative features and benefits including massive lugs and a cut-resistant centre to ensure an extremely robust tread area leading to increased service life, the company says. A specially reinforced radial casing provides outstanding damage resistance and load capacity plus even more rugged sidewalls guarantee increased shock and abrasion resistance, it added.

Production of the Magna MU30 has already commenced in size 26.5R25, with size 29.5R25 becoming available in August.

Magna Tyres also plans to showcase a new OTR pattern at the event – the Magna MA60 articulated dump truck (ADT) tyre.

This pattern will offer a unique tread lug and groove to give a powerful forward and lateral traction arrangement plus superior operator comfort, Magna says. A radial E3/L3 long-lasting tread ensures maximised productivity and reduced long-term operating costs, while a special rubber compound combined with an exceptionally robust casing guarantee even greater resistance to damage impact, the company claims.

The MA60 will eventually become available in size 800/80R29.

Bauma 2022 will run from October 24-30 in Munich, Germany.

Magna tyres find their way to Africa’s largest coal mine

One of the largest mining contractors in the world operating in Africa’s largest coal mine has selected 40.00R57 Magna MA04+C Giant tyres for its Cat 793D rigid dump trucks.

Magna says outstanding tyres are essential for the transport of huge amounts of coal to cover the total haul distance from the pit to the dump area without any downtime or failures and its own tyres fit that bill.

Magna’s proven track record regarding premium quality giant tyres was enough to convince the client, according to the company. The contractors is now benefitting from increased productivity and reduced operating costs as a result of the tyre selection, Magna added.

“The all-steel radial constructed tyres especially designed for coal applications are extremely suitable for the severe conditions in which they are used. The deep aggressive E4 tread pattern and excellent resistance to sidewall damages makes this Giant tyre extremely durable,” Magna said.

As part of Magna’s added value, a site visit to the coal mine including an application analysis and quality check on current running MA04+ tyres was organised. This check showed an “impressive toughness and efficiency” which will result in a reduction in costs per hour to operate the trucks, according to Magna.

In addition, recommendations on compounds for other dump trucks from the contractor’s mining fleet have been given in order to provide the client with the best suitable Giant Magna tyres in the near future.

Magna OTR tyres shipped to Asia contractor

The first batch of 33.00R51 Magna MA04+ giant OTR tyres are en route to one of Asia’s largest mining contractors.

Magna said the customer was looking for “reliable premium quality tyres” that could meet high expectations in demanding situations. “Magna Tyres is sure these tyres are going make the difference and beat all the expectations of this customer.”

The MA04+ is an all-steel radial constructed tyre designed for rigid dump trucks operating in severe off-road conditions, which is exactly where they will be deployed by the contractor in the near future. “The deep aggressive E4 tread pattern provides excellent traction and a long tread life,” Magna said.

The tyres provide excellent resistance to damage due to improved shoulder and sidewall protection, according to the company. They are also available in various compounds including (A) cut resistant, (B) heat-resistant and (S) standard.
