Terex Trucks to launch EU Stage V TA300, TA400 ADTs at Hillhead Digital

Terex Trucks is readying the launch of new EU Stage V versions of its TA300 and TA400 articulated haulers for the fast-approaching Hillhead Digital event.

The machines have been updated with an EU Stage V emission-compliant engine – and now deliver an improvement in fuel efficiency, an even stronger performance, as well as low total cost of ownership, the company says.

Both haulers come with a reduction of up to 7% in fuel consumption when compared with the Stage IV engine, according to Terex Trucks. Customers in Europe will also benefit from the haulers’ strong engine performance and excellent responsive power in all conditions.

Equipped with a Variable Geometry Turbo, the new Stage V engine allows for faster response at all engine speeds and an efficient combustion performance, according to the company. This helps improve operators’ efficiency while keeping the total cost of ownership low.

The TA300 and TA400 Stage V engine’s effective aftertreatment system uses selective catalytic reduction technology, removing the need for exhaust gas recirculation. This way, no exhaust gas is returned to the combustion chamber of the engine, helping to improve efficiency and durability of the machine. The diesel oxidation catalyst and a large-capacity diesel particulate filer ensure the engine meets the latest EU emission standards.

Just like the Terex Trucks Stage IV haulers, the new Stage V TA300 and TA400 are equipped with Scania DC9 and DC13 engines. Thanks to a drivetrain that is matched with the engine, the trucks deliver a powerful performance and excel in demanding work environments. For heightened levels of operational safety and control, an engine exhaust brake is installed as standard, which also reduces brake component wear.

The haulers also come with three-stage aspirated air filtration, which provides increased engine protection to lengthen maintenance intervals. All of this helps deliver strong, durable engine performance and keeps the total cost of ownership low.

The new Stage V TA300 and TA400 engines are also linked to Terex Trucks’ Haul Track telematics system, which allows customers to have visibility and control of the haulers, according to the company. They can access machine GPS location and tracking together with a range of downloadable daily performance reports such as machine hours worked, engine speed, idle time and system fault code alerts. This helps customers to plan maintenance more efficiently, maximises uptime and prolongs component lifecycles.

The first Stage V 28-t-payload TA300 and 38-t-payload TA400 are already rolling off the production line and will be delivered to the first customers in Europe from March, according to Terex Trucks.

Terex Trucks will present its new EU Stage V emission-compliant TA300 and TA400 dump trucks at the Hillhead Digital 2021 exhibition from March 30-31.

Terex Trucks signs up Headwater Equipment as Alberta dealer

Terex Trucks has announced Headwater Equipment Sales Ltd as its new dealer in Alberta, Canada, bringing its articulated haulers to even more customers in the province’s construction, mining, agriculture and oil and gas sectors.

Terex Trucks articulated haulers can handle rough terrain and tough conditions and perform reliably during Canada’s coldest months of the year, according to the company.

In Alberta, a variety of tasks await Terex Trucks’ TA300 and TA400 articulated haulers. The company’s new dealer, Headwater Equipment, will sell and rent the TA300 and TA400, as well as provide aftermarket support, to its customers in the prairie province in the west of Canada.

“Customers in Alberta require tough construction equipment that performs reliably during the coldest months of the year, when temperatures can drop as low as -30 to -40°C,” the company said. “That’s one of the reasons why Terex Trucks’ durable and robust articulated haulers have a history of strong sales in the area.”

Headquartered in Coalhurst, near Lethbridge in Alberta, Headwater Equipment operates from three locations in Alberta and one in British Columbia. The dealership was founded in 1997 and, today, 65 employees and 20 service trucks provide customers with quality equipment and support.

The TA300 has recently been upgraded and now comes with a new transmission, leading to improvements in fuel efficiency, performance, productivity and operator comfort, when compared with the previous model. The 28 t machine delivers a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency, a 5 km/h increase in speed to 55 km/h and an increase in the length of time between oil maintenance intervals from 1,000-4,000 hours. In addition, the truck now comes with eight forward gears as well as four reverse gears, to help ensure smoother gear shifting and, thereby, higher levels of operator comfort. All of this means that customers can be more productive, achieving faster cycle times, lower cost per tonne and reduced carbon emissions.

The TA400, the largest articulated hauler on offer from Terex Trucks, has a maximum payload of 38 t and a heaped capacity of 23.3 cu.m. Powered by a high performance, fuel efficient engine that develops a gross power of 331 kW, the TA400 is designed to meet the demands of the most extreme operations such as quarries, mines and large-scale construction projects.

Terex Trucks lays groundwork for Russia expansion with Mining Eurasia pact

Terex Trucks has signed Mining Eurasia as its new official distributor in the Russian Federation as the Scotland-based manufacturer looks to improve availability as well as return on investment for its customers in the region.

The company said: “As the single largest country in the world, it’s no great surprise that Russia has an abundance of coal, metal and minerals. In fact, it is home to 17% of all mineral deposits, 18% of all coal reserves, and produces more chromium, nickel and palladium than any other nation.”

According to Terex Trucks, this is one of the reasons why mining equipment provider Mining Eurasia has gone from “strength to strength” over the years. Now, it will be the official distributor of Terex Trucks’ TA300 and TA400 (pictured) articulated haulers in the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Startsev, Chief of Service, Mining Eurasia, said: “Russia is a tough market, with many of our customers running 24/7 operations. This firstly requires reliable equipment, but it also requires a lot of support from us.

“The harder you make machines work, the more you’ll need access to spare parts and knowledgeable technicians. We’ve always prided ourselves on the quality of our aftermarket support. This has helped us to build a strong reputation within our sector and strike up partnerships with companies like Terex Trucks.”

John Rotherford, Global Key Accounts Director, Terex Trucks, said: “In close collaboration with their (Mining Eurasia’s) team in Russia, we’ll be working together to improve availability as well as return on investment for our customers.”

Mining Eurasia has its headquarters in Moscow, along with a repair centre, four regional offices and 11 service centres situated across Russia. “The majority of our employees are dedicated service specialists,” Startsev said. “We plan to use that expertise to ensure that our customers can get the most out of their Terex Trucks machines.”

The Terex TA300 ADT is powered by a Scania DC9 engine and has a maximum payload of 28 t, maximum torque of 1880 Nm and can achieve gross power of 276 kW, according to Terex Trucks. “It is equipped with true independent front suspension as standard, resulting in excellent traction control and operator comfort,” the company said.

The TA400, the largest articulated hauler on offer from Terex Trucks, has a maximum payload of 38 t and a heaped capacity of 23.3 m³. “The Allison HD4560 transmission boasts high performance oil and up to 6,000 hours between service intervals,” Terex Trucks said.

Both machines come with hydrostatic power steering and all-hydraulic braking systems, helping to ensure a safe and comfortable ride, according to the company.
